Contact Information for the Ride:

Have you ridden this ride before? Yes
If Yes can you tell us your
experience: This ride is for climbers. 13,500 feet in 155 miles,
temperatures last year ranged from 65 at Kaiser pass to 112 in Clovis. Mass
start at 5:30 am with a police escort out of town. The first climb comes at
about mile 22, Wildcat is 4 miles, the last mile is steep. Rest stop at the top,
then it's a four mile descent and another short (2 miles) climb up Burroughs
Valley. Rest stop at the base of Tollhouse then the real climbing begins.
Tollhouse is 8 miles, the last 1/4 is STEEP. Then you're blessed with another
1,000 feet of climbing on highway 168 up to Shaver Lake. Nothing too hard, but
if you haven't trained at altitude these rollers can bite you. A quick,
technical descent to Big Creek and then the climb that riders dread. 4 miles,
2000 feet, no shade, sections at 20%. Ouch!. Lunch at Huntington Lake then it's
up (again) to Kaiser pass and the snow. The last 2 miles are rough and steep 1
1/2 lanes wide. Turn around, blast past riders still climbing, then begin the
slog over Tamarack Ridge, 3 short climbs of about a mile each with a little bit
of down hill in between. Then a 7 mile descent into Shaver, top off the water
bottles because you're about to descend into hell. Temperatures rise quickly as
you descend Alder Springs Rd. towards the Valley floor. Stop at Millerton store
for cold towels and popsicles and ride the last 15 miles to the finish.

This company was founded on the belief that by
improving a person’s physical appearance, self-esteem is raised, anxiety is

process.
Hair Raising Rides solicits contributions from companies and individuals and

hair, general appearance, energy, and self-esteem.
Hair Raising Rides is attempting to raise $250,000 to provide wigs and other
cosmetic needs to enhance the patients’ self-esteem during these devastating

The ride is for ADA, and is a great gathering of cycling enthusiasts who would
like to help others as well. The 7-day 550 mile ride (Sat thru Fri) is the
option I choose, and it goes through the mountains, by the sea, and through
quiet historic New England Towns. The support is fantastic, and the volunteers
are wonderful. Overnight accommodations are a mix of college dorms and small
inns/lodges. Breakfast and dinner are included. There is also a two-day, 150
mile option, which is the first two days of the same ride, with a bus trip back
to the start at the end of the weekend (Sat-Sun). Great riding, great support,
and lots of fun, friendly people.

If Yes can you tell us your experience: Seacoast Safari for Cystic
Fibrosis is a charity ride that benefits children and young adults that have
this incurable disease. This year's ride is August 5 & 6. There are two
distances. The 150 mile two day ride starts from the Plum Island Airport in
Newburyport and travels along the scenic New England coastline and ends at the
University of New England. This is where the riders will spend the night and
make the trek back to Plum Island Airport the next morning. There are 5 water
stops along the way and all meals are provided. The sorter 60 mile two day ride
starts from the VFW Post 6977 in York, Maine and makes its way following the
remaining portion of the same route as the longer ride. I have participated in
2004 and 2005. This ride is well organized. I am also on the committee for this
year's event. There is a non-refundable registration fee of $65.00 that covers
your meals and lodging. There is a pledge minimum of $250.00. In order to
receive a 2006 Seacoast Safari cycling jersey, you will need to raise $750.00 or

changing event. Approximately 90% of all contributions go towards AIDS
beneficiary organizations. Since this is my 3rd year it is hard to solicit $1500
for the honor of participating in the ride. I would appreciate any help that
anyone can provide. Thanks a million!
